START

I am stubborn when I see something ahead of me, but I have to take it slow to get there.

I will look at the end of an email and then read the beginning. I sometimes will skip certain steps to get to where I need to get to faster.

I was the type of girl in school who didn't want to do the homework in school, but just wanted to ace the tests to get through to the next round. I would be the type of girl in school that would skip sections in the workbooks and get to the harder parts not realizing the easier parts is what made the harder parts more successful.

When I worked out weight training with Jose back in 2007, we would always begin our training with stretching, and end it with stretching, and it was the part I hated the most.

I wanted to get into the gym and just LIFT! I wanted to go in there and begin the hard stuff right away - skip the stretching, that seemed wimpy to me.

What I learned over the course of time in weight training was, the stretching was actually the most important part. It was taking care of your body before and after a hard workout. I came to realize that the stretching actually enhanced the good stuff at the end, and I began to pace myself more to do it.

In my healing and in my life, I have learned to slow down and take the steps needed to get to where I need to get to, because those steps are just as important as the result.

I will now read an email from the beginning first and not jump to the end to the result, because the beginning is just as important as the end.

I will now hear my therapist say "lets slow down and honor this" and that is a lot like stretching. It's the conditioning of the soul and mind before getting to something hard, and it truly works when I allow myself that time.

When I started working out again this past week, I again wanted to jump right into the hard stuff, but I remembered that stretching before and after is allowing my body to be taken care of so that the hard stuff won't hurt me.

Stretching in life is so important and I realize that now.. I realize if I pace myself and slow down, I will get to where I want to get to, and it will be healthier in the long run.
